Last we wrote about Robin Williams’ massive bike collection going into auction to raise money for two of his favourite charities and now that the auction has ended details have emerged of the prices sold and money raised.
Interest in the auction was high and with bids pouring in from around the world and spanning 25 countries, the 87-strong collection which was estimated to raise around £150,000 instead fetched almost £500,000.
The highest bid was for a limited edition, Master Pista, La Carrera Futura 2000, which was created as a collaboration between Italian bike builder Colnago, the Canadian bike shop La Carrera and graffiti artist Futura 2000. The bike, which is one of only 38 ever made, attracted lots of early interest and eventually sold for over £32,000.
All proceeds from the auction were donated to the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, two charities which Williams actively supported during his life time.
