Movie buffs and memorabilia collectors, mark the 27th of September in your diary because one of the most exciting auctions of the year is due to take place at London’s BFI IMAX. Prop Store, one of the world’s leading retailers of film and TV memorabilia, is bringing a staggering collection of over 500 lots to auction which collectively, are worth in excess of £1.5 million.

The biggest attention grabbing pieces come from the Batman franchises, where bidders can look to get their hands on the original Batsuits from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but the real star of the show is the Batpod motorcycle.

Expected to fetch in the region of £60-80k, the custom-engineered bike was designed by film director Christopher Nolan and production designer Nathan Crowley to feature in both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, however,  it does come in a non-functional state so don’t expect to see it riding round anywhere soon.

Available at auction for the first time, it featured in some of the most action packed scenes in the movies and has 750cc Honda engine as well as prop cannon barrels and a dummy laser targeting unit.

Batman memorabilia isn’t the only franchise on offer though, with other notable lots including; Harry Potter’s Hogwarts acceptance letter, Keira Knightley’s dress from Love Actually and, Leonardo’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costume.

Over 300 key lots will be showcased at the cinema with a free preview exhibition at the BFI IMAX from 14 to 27 September, giving fans and potential bidders alike the chance to see the items up close before they’re sold on.

There are items from a host of classic films including Jaws, Jurassic Park, Star Wars and The Goonies so interest is high with many looking to get their hands on a piece of movie history

If you can’t make it to London to see the exhibits on display or to the auction in person then a live stream will be available at www.propstore.com/liveauction where you can watch the action unfold.
