Most Expensive Car Ever!
Bugatti has created a car which can only be described as a piece of art.
It's close to everything you want in a car. A ferocious engine, aggressive styling, unrivalled performance and your rival can't have one because there is only one!
The story behind the car is quite interesting and refers to legend - the long lost Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic.
If you don't know about this car, it's been missing for over 80 years. To celebrate the 110th anniversary of Bugatti, they rolled back the clock and remodelled the Type 57 into a contemporary juggernaut.
Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic
Considered the first supercar in the world, it was released in 1936 and was capable of 123mph.
Over a 4-year period, only 5 cars were built between 1936 and 1938. Now, the Type 57 was ultra-bespoke and was customised to meet the needs of their buyers and were given a unique name.
Jean Bugatti, the son of founder Ettore, designed the iconic Type 57 SC Atlantic. Obscure and yet captivating in design, these cars have become highly sought after among car collectors.
Today, only 3 cars exist but one was lost - the second Atlantic. Since it went missing over 80 years ago, it remains a mystery.
La Voiture Design
Being a one-off car, it takes some inspiration from the Chiron and the Divo.
What you'll notice is the horseshoe grill on the front and air vents similar to the Divo. However, they are have been altered in intricate ways which illustrate their attention to detail and this culminates into an even more aggressive look.
From small improvements to the even larger ones, you'll find six exhausts on the rear of the car. Coupled with its 8L W-16 engine, expect a sound akin to a Beethoven symphony. These six exhausts form part of an aggressive rear end along with a full-width rear light and enough vents to rival a shuttle!
Did you notice the central fin? This is a nod to the Type 57 as it featured one too which split the front of the vehicle.
La Voiture Performance
The La Voiture Noire contains the same engine as the Chiron. Before you get disappointed, here's what's hiding underneath the alluring design.
- Transmission: 7-Speed Dual-Clutch.
- 1/4 Mile: Under 10 Seconds.
Similar to its Chiron sibling, this car can seriously move. However, it contains numerous additions such as aerodynamics, handling and other re-designs which may mean it's even faster! The top speed is reportedly 260mph but watch this space for any updates.
The La Voiture Noire is a one-off, and the French firm won’t build another one like it.
However, this confirms the on-going trend whereby carmakers like Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and more are creating these spectacular one-off cars and selling them for incredible amounts of money.
Are we going to see the likes of Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Maserati, Koenigsegg and more join the trend? Only time will tell.
The La Voiture Noire is truly stunning. The sensual lines which are both elegant and aggressive help to create a visually beautiful car which you'd give a lot to drive.
The link back to the Type 57 is a fantastic nod to their heritage as it's considered the ultimate Bugatti but now it has a modern version. What are your thoughts? Hit the share button and let us know!
