Rolls-Royce Cullinan Super-SUV

Rolls-Royce has spoken. They've entered the SUV market with the announcement of their 'Super-Luxury SUV' the Cullinan.

Jewellery aficionados will know that the Cullinan became the world's largest raw diamond which weighed over 3,000 carats and became a part of the British Crown Jewels.

With a focus on Range Rover and Bentley, Rolls-Royce aims to become the king of the luxury SUV market. Don't forget that Lamborghini released their Urus SUV which packs serious stats. Take a look at our blog post: Lamborghini Urus Review.

With an emphasis on the family market, what can we expect from the Rolls-Royce Cullinan?

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Design

The design of the Cullinan is the product of 5-years of design. The guiding principle of 'Effortless, everywhere' and "go big' manifested itself in the car we see here.

Priced at £230,000 Rolls-Royce are illustrating their 'Super-Luxury SUV' claims because it's at the top of the market.

The Cullinan's performance specs are sparse but here's what we have so far:

  • 6.75L Twin-Turbo V12 Engine.
  • Top Speed - 155mph.
  • 583BHP.

Available in various configurations, Rolls-Royce wanted to balance the 4x4 versatility of a Range-Rover and the elegance and luxury of a limousine.

Is this a Rolls-Royce?

What's Happening in the SUV Market?

The market is changing. The demand for SUVs and crossovers is increasing to the extent where companies like Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley and Alfa Romeo have entered.

Despite releasing their car after their rivals, Rolls-Royce had the advantage of seeing how their competitors interpreted the needs of the customers and decided to go in the middle.

Combining versatility and luxury is difficult but Rolls-Royce might be on-to something.

What Does The Cullinan Mean for Rolls-Royce?

Will the Cullinan be what Rolls-Royce intended?

Made at their customers' requests, the Cullinan gives Rolls-Royce a new alternative but the Phantom will remain the benchmark of luxury.

Customers can expect their orders in late 2018/early 2019 but teaser trailers of the car in different terrains have been posted.
