We're proud to be British and this month we are going to be celebrating the British car industry by taking a closer look at a selection of manufacturers who have redefined it through the years with their innovative designs - both mechanically and visually which has led to some of the greatest and most iconic cars ever made coming from British manufacturers.

Keep an eye on The Journal throughout November as we'll be featuring manufacturers, delving into their history and checking out their most iconic cars. Then, we'll be asking for your help as we pit them against each other to discover who you think should be crowned as Britain's greatest.

We'll only be looking at the manufacturers which are currently producing cars but we are by no means forgetting about some of the greats which are sorely missed, we'll get to those at a later date. We're looking at you Triumph.

We'll be running through the list in alphabetical order, starting with one of the UK's oldest independent car makers, the magnificent AC Cars and their timeless AC Cobra.
