The Vallée de Joux just got more luxurious
Way up in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland is The Vallée de Joux (Known as the 'Valley of Rocks' in the Swiss dialect). This part of Switzerland is quite unique because of its rich history of watchmaking where you can find one of the most well-known luxury watchmakers in the world, Audemars Piguet.
The Vallée de Joux will be getting a new touch of luxury after it was announced a new hotel will be built next to the museum of Audemars Piguet. Built and planned by the same company, the new project will include a bar, restaurant, 50 rooms and also links to skiing trails.
What's so eye-catching about this project is how it takes into account the topography of its surroundings. The added complement of a zig-zagged roof will mean that guest may be able to ski down it!
Audemars Piguet's history dates all the way back to 1875 when Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet founded the company. Known as one of the 'Big Three' along with Patek and Vacheron of Swiss watchmakers.
One of Audemars most famous offerings was The Royal Oak. This watch was the world's first luxury sports watch and stole the show at the 1972 Baselworld.
Trivia - This watch was designed in a day.
Audemars has stayed in family hands ever since their inception and 4 generations later, they are still a revered company who are among the finest watchmakers in the world.
The addition of this hotel and its close proximity to the Audemars Piguet museum will mean that people will be able to get closer to the history of The Vallée de Joux.
Scheduled for completion by 2020, this hotel will certainly add to the picturesque views of the Jura Mountains and we cannot wait to write about it.
